I have been waiting awhile to give my final review on this establishment and its staff. If you are expecting a flowery 5 star review that has no merit because the writer was paid to do such as that, then you are mistaken! I do not accept payment for writing reviews. Never have, and never will. However I will be completely forthcoming with you about my experience. So, with that in mind let me get started.
Back in March I was driving to Shreveport. I stopped in Many, LA to check on a noise I heard under my truck. After not finding anything out of the ordinary I promptly got up and sat back down in the drivers seat to proceed on my trip. I noticed a very mild discomfort in my lower back, but at 51 years of age I have come to realize minor aches and pains are not uncommon. I ignored it and continued on. By the time I got to Shreveport I began to think that maybe I had pulled a muscle as the pain had gotten slightly worse, but not unbearable.
Well long story short it reached a critical level by the time I got back home that evening. I took off the next couple of days to see if it would get better. The only thing that changed was the pain level and the actual shape of my back. I seemed to be turning into a pretzel and there was nothing that I could do about it. So I reached out to my Facebook friends and asked for recommendations for a chiropractor. The response was overwhelmingly in favor of Dr Wilkerson at Leesville Family Chiropractic Clinic. So I called them that afternoon and was told to come right then.
By this time even walking to the car was a huge undertaking. By the time my wife drove me to the clinic and I wobbled in I was nearly in tears. I’m telling you these details to let you know two things. 1. just how bad of shape I was in, and 2. just how big of a baby I am.
The staff as a whole are incredible. You truly are a stranger only when you walk in the front door the first time. From that point on they treat you just like you’ve been friends for years. Kind and cordial in every way. You are always greeted with a smile and hello.
Dr Wilkerson really made an impression on me from the very get go. It seems that he saw my post on facebook asking for recommendations. He let everyone know that if I actually showed up to help him work me in ASAP. Kinda made me feel special. After having been his patient for a few months now I realize that he doesn’t just do those kind of things to make you feel special. He actually cares that much for his patients.
My first visit was not fun. Just being honest. It hurt! He started off taking x-rays of my lower spine. I am fairly certain he does this with all new patients. He identified my problem with the x-ray. L4 and L5 discs were herniated. He then explained to me how this happens and how it can be corrected. He even helped me understand how medical doctors address these problems and that if he cannot fix me he could advise me on some area doctors that treat herniated discs. This made me comfortable knowing that he would give me direction if this was a bigger problem than he was able to handle. After discussing all of this with me he put me on the table, had his staff use a massaging device on my back to loosen me up before he started adjusting. Nothing I mentioned so far was painful. As the late Billy Mays would say, “but wait….there’s more!”
He came into the room and started making adjustments on me. My wife tells me I yelled everytime. Probably even scared some first-timers off (sorry Doc). When he was done he made up a treatment plan for me. I began going twice a day for a couple of weeks. I know that sounds expensive, but honestly he made it very affordable for me. It was a drag to plan my work around being there twice a day, but let me tell you, it started working. After the first few visits I was able to start working again. I wasn’t breaking any speed records, but I was able to earn a living. His treatment plan for me went from twice a day adjustments to once a day, then to twice a week. I think now I am seeing him every other week.
All of this started back in March of this year (2019). I have waited this long to write this review because it has taken me this long to get back to 100%. I know, that may not sound like a good thing to most people in the “microwave age” we live in, but if you have ever known anyone that has had a back surgery go bad, or that has to take pain meds for back problems then I think you will agree that 3 or 4 months of adjustments to get back to 100% is not a bad trade-off.
One last thing. He will advise you to do exercises. DO THEM! He will advise you to purchase things that will help you recover. BUY THEM! I promise you this, everything he told me to do, I did and I could tell the difference it made. ALL OF IT!
Dr Wilkerson and his staff are the best in their field as far as I’m concerned. They sincerely care about their patients. Not only can you see it, but you can feel it. If you hurt your back I highly recommend you go by and talk to Dr Wilkerson. He will be my go to guy from now on with all my pains.
Thank you Leesville Family Chiropractic Clinic for your care! You’re amazing!!
