Week 4 Weight Loss Update

Welcome friends! I am so excited about something that happened this week!! If you follow me on Facebook you are aware that something happened to me this week that I could hardly wait to share with you. But first let me tell you about this weeks lack of lost pounds.

As you can see in the above picture that I only lost one pound this week. It may shock you that I am not totally discouraged at this sad amount of weight loss this week. I am actually very excited that I lost a single pound this week. Here’s why. We had family come in on Friday from out of state. This is family that we rarely get to see, so when they come in we throw a feast! Well, I have decided that I am not gonna punish myself on these types of occasions. I allowed myself a full weekend off of my new way of eating.

Just to let you in on how badly I fell off of the wagon I’ll share with you what was available throughout the weekend. Let’s see, there was fried chicken, BBQ fried chicken (Oh MY GARSH!), Mac and Cheese, desserts that were out of this world, and did I mention fried chicken lol. I can’t even remember what all there was. I just want you to know that I wasn’t even trying to be good.

All that said, through 2 days of falling back into my old ways I was still able to jump right back on the wagon and continue my journey. Not to mention losing a pound on top of that.

Next week will be better!

Now for my exciting news. In the past year and a half I started having to buy new clothes because the ones I had were getting too tight. As a matter of fact, when I got on Dr. John McDougall’s program I tried to put on a pair of jeans that I had replaced over a year ago and I couldn’t even get the buttons on the waistband to get within an inch of each other. I now regret that I did not take any body measurements other than my weight when I started this, but I didn’t because my belief was not really all that high as to whether I would even lose any weight because of my recent past failures. But, I did try on those pants in the beginning, grateful for that because this week, 4 and 1/2 weeks into this new way of eating, I was able to button them up AND COMFORTABLY!! Sorry I don’t mean to brag…THE HECK I DON’T lol!! I am bragging, because I am doing this! My body is healing, I feel great, I am encouraged!

Please understand, I have not been able to lose any weight for several years now. No matter what I tried I could not lose weight. And even though my weight loss may not be stellar, I am totally thrilled that I no longer feel my body is broken. It is not broken! God is healing my body by the natural foods He gave us, not by taking manmade pills or supplements. You don’t need supplements when you eat what God created you to eat!

I want to leave you with this, Get on Dr John MacDougall’s program. Read his books or get them on audio . If you have had trouble in the past with weight loss, if you don’t feel good, if you can’t afford surgery or expensive diet programs, if you are too self-conscious (like me) to go to a gym, or if you just want to learn to eat healthier, please get his books. Getting healthy does not have to be complicated. It does not have to be expensive. YOU….CAN….DO….THIS! Come go with me to a smaller place.

I love you, God loves you. Let’s get this done! Bye-bye

STASH Portfolio Update for week 2-25 thru 3-1-2019

Good Sunday morning STASHERS! Thanks for checking in, and a great big WELCOME to everyone who has joined STASH through my referral link. So glad you are all here. It thrills me to know that through these articles and updates I am able to maybe reshape your thinking about investing for your future. You are learning that it doesn’t have to be difficult, nor intimidating. So again, welcome aboard! Let’s get started.

On Monday with me regular weekly deposit I only divide that money between stocks I already own starting with those in my portfolio that are my current lowest gainers that have not been brought up to the $10 investment level. Remember, at this point I am only investing in $5 increments. So here is the list of the 8 stocks that I added $5 to on Monday:

  1. Domino’s
  2. Electronic Arts
  3. CVS
  4. The J.M. Smucker Company
  5. Tyson Foods
  6. Booking Holdings
  7. BP (For some reason I have $15 in BP now due to an oversight on my part)
  8. Union Pacific

This week I received dividends from the following companies. Dividends are a predetermined amount of money companies share with you simply for owning their stock. Its like little bribes to get you to invest. They are fun to receive and are helpful in building up your portfolio. Here is that list:

  1. Constellation Brands
  2. Wynn Resorts
  3. Slow & Steady (ETF)
  4. Simon Property Group
  5. Wells Fargo
  6. The J.M. Smucker Company
  7. Boeing
  8. ConAgra
  9. ConocoPhillips
  10. Ford
  11. Phillips 66
  12. Intel
  13. Kroger
  14. Pfizer

Then on Tuesday I rebought the stocks that I had sold on the prior Friday as the funds had been made available. Keep in mind that I only sell them for a minimum of a 10% gain, but if I remember right one of them had an increase of over 20% by the time it sold. Here is that list:

  1. Robots Rising (ETF) $10
  2. NVIDIA $10
  3. JD.com $10
  4. Honeywell $5
  5. Paypal $5
  6. Young Money (ETF) $5
  7. Water the World (ETF) $5
  8. Dine Brands Global $5
  9. Marriott $5
  10. Oracle $5
  11. Las Vegas Sands $5
  12. Intel $5
  13. Wendy’s $5
  14. Home Depot $5

Then on Friday March 1st at 2:20ish I put in my order to sell my stocks that were showing at least a 10% profit. Here is that list:

  1. The Gap
  2. Cisco
  3. JD.com
  4. Apple
  5. Monster
  6. Anheuser-Busch InBev
  7. Nike
  8. Boeing
  9. BLOK (ETF)
  10. Abbott Laboratories
  11. Small but Mighty

Following are the screenshots of each end-of-day results for the week. It was a very slow market week, as was the week before, but still was able to take some profits and reinvest them in some companies who are at some low levels right now. Remember, this is exactly how you are to invest. You must buy stocks that are low and sell them when they are high.

Warren Buffett even advises you to “never lose money.” In other words, do not sell a stock unless you have made a profit. This assumes that you are an investor and not a speculator, meaning you are buying for the long-term. Far too many investors never really gain this kind of understanding about investing. If you look online in the stockmarket chat rooms you will find that there are more people out there gambling (speculating) on stocks than are actually investing.

I am trying to teach you the “buy-and-hold” technique that Warren Buffett recommends, but with an added twist of occasionally selling so that you can take profits and reinvest them creating a compounding effect which in-turn will really cause explosive growth in your portfolio. It just takes time to make that happen, and you must be patient. Your patience will be greatly rewarded!

Y’all have a great week! I love you and God loves you!! Bye-bye

Why Your Home Based Business Failed And What You Need To Do About It!

Have you ever started a business from home only to have it fail a few months later? I know it has happened to me. It has happened to nearly everyone I know at one time or another.

Here’s how it usually goes; you start a small business from your living room or garage. You have flyers printed, a box of business cards made, maybe a sign in your yard, a website, join the local Chamber of Commerce, put an ad in the paper, and oh yeah, you gotta tell all your friends that your in business. And then after all of this you might make your first sale or get your first paid job. You may even get a couple of repeat customers….and then….NOTHING ELSE!

Months may go by and you’re still working a full-time job with a good steady check and benefits just like you’ve always done, but now you are finding yourself working your home business when you get off work. It doesn’t pay you much if anything. You feel like all you do is work all the time because you are either at your full-time job, out doing jobs for your few customers you’ve accumulated, or you are working at promoting your business. It can become very discouraging, especially if you are making little to no profit in your business.

When you start becoming discouraged and start thinking in terms such as this, you are in the self-destruct mode. You may even be aware that you are in this mode, but have gotten to a point where you are physically as well as mentally exhausted. I know because I have been there.

I have gotten to this point several times in my life. I have failed at nearly everything I have ever done! Honestly, that is how you get ahead. As strange as it may seem, you must fail yourself forward. Most things you do will fail. That does not make you a failure. What makes you a failure is when you give up for good. When you decide you will never try again, that is the definition of failure. Don’t get to this point.

If you have failed at something you are in great company. Here are just a few:

  1. One young man built 5,126 failed prototypes of his improved version of a vacuum cleaner. It only took him 15 years of trying over and over again until he finally got it right. Now he has a net worth of $4.5 BILLION. You can read the story of Sir James Dyson here.
  2. The man responsible for the lighting in your house, car, city streets, and anywhere else you may see due to artificial lighting was once told by his teacher in school that he was “too stupid to ever learn anything.” That man’s name was Thomas Edison. There have been several books and documentaries made about his “stupidity”.
  3. If anyone ever earned to right to give up it would have been the great Abraham Lincoln. From multiple bankruptcies and failed businesses to EIGHT failed elections, he went on to become one of the greatest presidents this country has ever known. Why? Chiefly because he never quit. Lincoln has one of the greatest and most encouraging yet heartbreaking stories ever told. Here are some great documentaries on the man Abraham Lincoln!
  4. Who has never heard the story of Green Eggs and Ham? If you are living today the odds are very slim that you don’t know who “Sam I am” is, or what he now eats “here or there”. Right!? Well did you also know the you almost never got the chance to hear of Sam, green eggs, Cat in the Hat, Whoville, or Dr. Seuss? You only heard of him because he wouldn’t quit after nearly 30 publishes told him his books weren’t very good. He then went on to sell more than 600 million copies of those same books. There is much more to this great man’s story here.

These are only a few of the many people in history who have tried and failed, tried and failed, and tried and WON! Here are a few other names with similar stories:

  1. Oprah Winfrey Interview
  2. Steven Spielberg Video Interview
  3. American Experience Walt Disney
  4. Vincent Van Gough
  5. Jerry Seinfeld Seinlanguage

Those should keep you busy for awhile!

Now, I would like to encourage you to never give up trying! NEVER! And always explore every opportunity that fate places in your path. You never know when the next one is your GREAT ONE. In order for you to find your Great Freedom Maker you may have to go through only about 27 failures like Dr Seuss. Wouldn’t that be amazing to know that you only had to fail 27 times to get to your Great Freedom Maker?!

You may have to go through 5,126 also. That is exactly what happened to Sir James Dyson. Was it worth it? I think he would tell you HECK YEAH!

All of these people had one thing in common. For the most part, they made it big without someone holding their hand and teaching them everything they needed to know to succeed. They did it mostly by life lessons and hard knocks.

I am a tow truck driver by trade. By night, I am a blogger. If you are not aware there are literally millions of people making a good income with their side-hustle blog or vlog. The really amazing thing is, there is a ton of help from real people. There are literally thousands of people right this very minute monitoring a website and email accounts, and instant messenger portals just waiting to help you with your questions on writing articles, building audiences, and everything else that you need to be a success. The only secret ingredient you need is to be persistent. You don’t even have to be real knowledgeable or even interesting. You just need to be persistent after learning a few basic skills that are very simple to learn.

Are you ready to TRY AGAIN? Click the banner below to check it out. Did I mention that it won’t cost you anything to check it out, learn a few basics, and to even have a website that can produce you a good income? Click the banner! I look forward to helping you grow!!

Hello everyone! Thank you for being here. I am so glad you stopped by. Let’s talk stocks!

I’m gonna start with Tuesday stock purchases with my weekly deposit of $40. I’m starting with Tuesday because Monday was a federal holiday and the banks and markets were closed. Remember, I have a position in every stock and ETF that STASH offers at this time. I add money only in $5 increments. And with the liquidation of those positions as well as what I already had accumulated in dividends throughout the week I had enough profit to add $5 each to:

  1. Dunkin’ Brands
  2. Bonds Worldwide
  3. Papa John’s
  4. Chipotle

Then on Friday Feb 22 at 2:20pm I sold these positions:

  1. JD.com $11.45
  2. Dine Brands Global $6.14
  3. NVIDIA $11.08
  4. Robots Rising $11.04
  5. Marriott $5.80
  6. Intel $5.60
  7. Las Vegas Sands $5.59
  8. Oracle $5.56
  9. Water the World $5.54
  10. Young Money $5.50
  11. Pay Pal $5.52
  12. Honeywell $5.50

The following screenshots are of my daily end-of-day results. It has really been a slow week in the markets, but as my end-of-week results show, there is always a bull market somewhere.

If you have never invested in the stock market, I want you to stop putting it off. Your future is too important to not invest in it. Start TODAY! I am showing you just how simple and easy it is!

First Month Weight Loss

Ok, I’m 4 days away from it actually being a full month but this will still be my official first month review as I will not weigh-in again until next Sunday.

I want to start off by saying how grateful I am that Dr. John Mcdougall has made available so much information on nutrition from a medical doctor’s point of view. I had all but given up on the idea that I would ever lose weight again. If you’ve read some of my other posts on the subject you know that my metabolism has slowed down to a crawl.

I first thought that I was going to use Dr. McDougall’s plan to just jumpstart my metabolism and heal whatever may have been going on in my body so that maybe I could lose weight, but now that I’m actually losing weight I am adding to my goal just a tad.

This week, just shy of a month from eating a plant based starch filled diet, I am down 12 pounds. This does not sound like much to most people including myself, but in light of my age and the struggle I’ve had with dieting and losing weight in the recent past, I am thoroughly excited about my current weight loss.

Three pounds a week is huge when you average it out over a year! That’s 156 pounds I’ll have lost this time next year if I keep this average up. I can live with that, and I mean that literally.

Here are a couple of things I have experienced over the last month with my new way of eating. Number 1, I started off the month checking my PH with PH test strips (you can get them by clicking here). The reason for this is because many health and nutrition specialists believe that the foods you eat can change the overall PH levels of your body. Fact is if you have very low PH levels, anything under 7 on the PH scale is considered low, then you increase your risk of certain diseases including cancer. So I have been checking it a few times a week and have been watching my PH gradually go up (this is considered a good thing). Today however, I noticed my PH has dropped dramatically. I’m not sure why this happened, but it could be due to the fact that yesterday was my cheat-day, AND CHEAT I DID!

Number 2, ever since my last attempt at doing a Keto diet a couple of years ago I have had much difficulty sleeping. As a matter of fact I quit doing keto because I thought I would go insane due to not sleeping at night. Even with sleep medicine I was unable to sleep. Even after quitting keto it was months before I could get any worthwhile sleep. Now, 2 years later I am finally getting some really good sleep, and this just started since I began a plant-based diet. Long story short, my sleep mechanism is being repaired through eating healthy.

Number 3, I no longer have a distended stomach. This actually happened in the first few days. That alone will make you feel better physically as well as give you a little more confidence. It also helps me do my job better as a big part of my business is changing tires for people. Try doing that with an overly distended stomach LOL.

That’s it for this week’s update. I’m going to leave you with a list of books you need to check out on the subject at hand. Please look over them. If you travel a lot you will want to see if these are available on audio. If you are not an Audible Club Member already you can get your first two books of your choice for free, just click here.

Battered Men Make Better BBQ!

I had been contemplating whether or not to do any local business reviews on this page and had mostly decided not to do any local writing because I wanted to keep this page geared towards product and book reviews for Amazon and a handful of other national type businesses. Well, that all changed as of last Friday.

We were having friends over for lunch on Saturday and I thought I would stop by this new BBQ joint here in Leesville, LA and pick up a little yardbird for part of our meal. Now before I go any further I need to interject a little something for those of you who are following my Weight Loss Journey on this page; I need you guys to know that I take a cheat-day off of my diet every Saturday, so don’t stone me for what you are about to read.

Now that that is taken care of I’ll move on.

When I first pulled into the drive-thru (it is drive-thru only. No seating at this time), the all familiar smell of a wood-fired pit found its way into my car. I was not upset with that. I pulled up to the window to get my order (I called my order in prior to getting there) and Carla, the sweet lady working the window asked me to pull around back while they got my order ready. I had ordered two half chicken orders. One half chicken comes with 2 half chickens, so my order was actually the equivalent of 2 whole birds. It also came with sides, and we only asked for potato salad.

I had pulled around to the back of the building by the outdoor grilling area. I had to get out and take a peek at their setup. All I can say is it is a grillmaster’s dream! Not only the equipment, but the smells coming out of there were to die for. Rocky Gattis, the owner, saw me snooping around and came out to talk (really just to make sure I wasn’t hooking his Grill Trailer to my car). Both Rocky and the Carla lady are very pleasant people. But I wasn’t there for pleasantries, I came for the BBQ. I asked him for a sample of his BBQ sauce.

Before I tell you about the sauce, let me first explain that I am in no way an expert on BBQ Sauce, or much of anything else for that matter. BUT, I have had the opportunity to eat BBQ at some joints in towns who are famous for great BBQ. Chicago, Kansas City, Memphis, and all over Texas just to name a few. As a truck driver for 17 I used that time on the road to sample a whole bunch of BBQ. Still, I am no expert, but I do have a good point of reference on the subject.

Back to the sauce. Rocky has been training with and competing against some of the greatest grillmasters in the business. He has done well in many of the competitions he has participated in. I tell you that so that you will know he is not serving his customers Heinz or Sweet Baby Ray’s. But don’t ask him for the recipe. I’m afraid if he told you he may feel compelled to make sure you never repeated it to anyone…..EVER! Let me just say this about his champion BBQ sauce. Once it hit my tongue my first reaction was “wow thats sweet” and then almost instantly my tongue started tasting every other nuance Rocky has designed into it. I was like “HOLY COW! What is this???!!!” I was experiencing sweet, tangy, and spicy simultaneously. It was delicious. I honestly have never had a BBQ quite like his.

But then I swallowed it, and just when I thought the whole thing was over, something hit the taste buds in back forty. There was a smokey flavor afterkick. It was like, OHHHHH YEAHHH!

I hope Battered Men’s BBQ is around for many many years. I wish Rocky, Carla, and Carl (Grillmaster #2) all the best. I know that the good folks of Leesville, LA are gonna treat them right.

ps The tater salad was pretty good too!

**DISCLAIMER** This is not a paid recommendation or review of this business. This is my honest opinion of this establishment.

Weight Loss Update for Week Ending February 16

Take control of your health and weight!

Get 2 free audiobooks of you choice!

Well it is the end of week 3 and things are going great! I know that those of you who do not know me personally may not understand how big of a deal that is. You see, for my entire life I have always had the kind of metabolism that would melt the weight right off of me if I just tried a little bit. I actually lost 30 pounds in a month about 5 years ago. Its is amazing to me how things can change so quickly. While I was still using the weight loss supplement that I was taking at the time I lost the 30 pounds in a month I suddenly quit losing weight for seemingly no reason. I could not lose one pound in a month. What happened? Though I’m not entirely certain, I think the thing that happened was that my 45 year old body decided to change. My metabolism slowed down.

I eventually gave up for a time. Kind of a long time. At least a few years. Then, as my weight started creeping back up I decided to try another weight loss supplement. Many people in my local area were having great success with this product. So, not knowing what was actually going on in my body, I took these products a few months and once again….no weight loss.

Again I gave up. I really had decided to give up forever. Not a good place to be. Less than two years after making that decision my weight climbed to 355 pounds. Thats right, at the age of 50 I weighed in at 355 pounds. So I started researching different options. This may be my last time of trying to get my health and weight under control. I am excited to say that I AM DOING THIS! I AM ACTUALLY LOSING WEIGHT!!! I found something I can do, and it is actually working for me. I needed to tell you the background so that you would understand why I am excited about the weight loss I have experienced for the last 3 weeks.

So, yesterday I turned 51 years old but 10 pounds lighter! YAY! Lol.

My Review of The Starch Solution by Dr John McDougall

Seldom, if ever has a nutrition book kept my attention until the very end. Hats off to Dr John McDougall for accomplishing this feat.

Forget most of what you have been taught about health, nutrition, and losing weight. Granted this is not necessarily a stand alone weight loss book, but once you get the nutrition in order the weight loss will just come off naturally.

But weight loss is ONLY a side benefit. When overall health and longevity are your true goals then what is taught in this book becomes medicine, not a diet.

This book flies in the face of everything I personally have been taught about nutrition. I have been following the advice given in this book for the last few weeks(as of this writing), and have not felt this good in many many years. Already I have seen weight loss, more energy, restful sleep (this is huge as I have not slept good in a few years), not getting winded while working, and many other things physical things not to be discussed here.

If you are needing to learn how to feel good, possibly heal your body, shed unwanted weight, and learn how to, in the words of Hypocrates, “Let thy food be thy medicine”, then you need to get The Starch Solution.

I want to encourage you to get the information this book offers. So much so I have an offer for you so that you can get the book for free, and it is yours to keep FOREVER! Just click the banner below that says “get two free audiobooks”. The two free audiobooks are totally free and yours to keep. So there is no reason not to get your audiobook today!

Weigh-in for Feb 10

First let me say that I did not start this plant-based-diet for the specific purpose of losing weight, but I would be a fool to think that changing to this kind of diet would not impact my weight. Also, please don’t look at my results as far as weightloss goes and think that your results will be the same. I will be 51 years old in a few days. My metabolism has slowed way down. My body does not react to diets the way that it did once upon a time. Did I mention that I am not sticking to the plan on Saturdays. At least not at this time. Saturday will be a cheat day. So keep these things in mind please.

Here are my second week results. I am down a total of 7 pounds. I need to let you know that I never pay any attention to the number to the right of the decimal on my scale. I figure at 350 pounds that number is really irrelevant lol.

If you would like more info on the eating program I am following check out the following link:
